I love when someone shares a miracle with me in the first 20 minutes of meeting me...
Two weeks ago, my visiting teaching companion, Annie, and I were visiting Lisa. Annie asked Lisa how dating was going, and when we all came to the conclusion that all 3 of us want to go on more dates, we planned a group date! Lisa set me up with a coworker, and the next week, we all met at Lisa's apartment to go on our adventure.
My date had an amazing story:
He was serving a mission in Australia, and had 6 months left, when his body broke out in a rash so horrible, that he wasn't allowed to knock on doors anymore (I guess he could teach lessons, he just couldn't approach strangers). Eventually, he went to the doctor after having other strange symptoms, and found out he had thyroid cancer - at age 21! They sent him home 6 months early to get treatments. During his mission, his mother had also become pregnant - years after having her first 3 children, and during delivery, she and the baby almost died. They survived, and he was able to be there with them because he had come home early. 4 months later he was cancer free. I asked him if he thinks there was a purpose to all of this, and he mentioned his mother and the baby thing, but doesn't know for sure what else. But he is sure there are many reasons, and more importantly knows that he is definitely still supposed to be alive after a miraculous recovery.
Amazing. Seriously, we are surrounded by people with miracles in their lives that witness of a loving God and great purpose to our lives.
