Unexpected Miracle

Today I witnessed a miracle that required us being in the right place at the right time. After lunch, I needed to exchange money and asked Andi and Matt to go with me to the bank. Andi decided to exchange money too and mentioned that she wanted to go buy a map of Haiti. We didn't know where to buy one, so Matt suggested we check at Evalyn and Fritz' hotel to see if they had a map or knew where we could buy one. When we got to the hotel, instead of getting a map, we walked into an emergency situation. A patron of the hotel was sitting down with a few attendants trying to help her with no luck. She seemed to be having heart issues and her eyes kept rolling backwards. Luckily, Matt is an EMT and had a stethoscope with him and jumped right in to help. Thinking she may be having a heart attack, he sent Andi and me to find aspirin. We ran with a man from the hotel down the street to a pharmacy and bought some there, and the pharmacist followed us in his car so he could take the woman to the hospital. An ambulance actually passed us as we were running, and when I explained the situation to the driver, he showed me that the back of the ambulance was filled with chairs they were transporting so they couldn't help - what!!! Anyway, Matt and the other attendants gave the woman aspirin and helped her into the car and then we spent an hour or so at the emergency room with her. She ended up being okay, but what a blessing that we were there at the right time with Matt who has the training that was needed!
